We may all know of a mother who has lost a baby due to miscarriage or
unexpected death. There may be other situations or the pain of an abortion.
A baby rosary especially
made for her, in remembrance of this Unique Life, may be a tangible
way to bring a sense of peace. As we pray the rosary Our Mother of Sorrow
will not fail to draw us close to Her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. The
sorrow in our heart becomes Her sorrow, too.
Lamentations 1:2 "Bitterly she weeps at night,
tears upon her checks,
With not one to console her
of all her dear ones;

Resignation
Mary, my mother, obtain for me, I beg you, the grace
of a holy resignation. Obtain for me the grace to
understand this trial, which is so hard to bear. I know
that God in His all-wise providence has seen that
it is for the best. Yet it is hard for me to bear the
grief I feel. I come to you, dear Mother, Comforter
of the Afflicted and constant aid of those who trust in
you. I know that you can obtain for me the peace and
resignation that I seek. I confide in you entirely in my
tribulation and sorrow. You know the meaning of a
mother's love, and you can understand the depth of
my affliction. Be to me a tender and protecting mother.
For now, dear Mother Mary, I feel more that ever the
need of your motherly love and sweet consolation.

To an Infant in Heaven
My darling (child's name) you are now in joy in the presence of God;
and in your spotless innocence, which He loves, you can speak to
Him with a voice that He will heed. You are still my little baby and
will surely regard the prayers of your mother, who bore you. So with
confidence, then I speak to you. Intercede for me to obtain the
favor that I here ask as a mother through her child who stands
before the throne of God (petition). But if what I ask is not according
to the wisdom and loving designs of Almighty God for me and others,
then ask Him to grant what is best according to His good pleasure
and to give me the wisdom and faith to conform my will to His.
To St. Gerard
O almighty God, through the work of the Holy Spirit, your prepared
the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
to be a worthy habitation of Your Son. Listen to the prayer of
Your servant who implores You, through the intercession of
St. Gerard, Your faithful servant. Protect her (me) in the dangers
of motherhood and safeguard against the evil spirits the tender
fruit which You have vouchsafed to grant her (me) in order that,
by Your saving hand, this child may receive holy Baptism. Grant also that,
after living like Christians on earth both mother and child may
attain to everlasting happiness in heaven. Amen.
